GIFTS OF WISDOM AND REVELATION

1 Cor 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; (KJV)

A. IMPORTANCE OF SPIRITUAL GIFTS TODAY

1. Challenge of Satan's counterfeits in last days

II Th 2:8 Then this wicked one will appear, whom the Lord Jesus will burn up with the breath of his mouth and destroy by his presence when he returns.

9 This man of sin will come as Satan's tool, full of satanic power, and will trick everyone with strange demonstrations, and will do great miracles.

10 ly fool those who are on their way to hell because they have said no to the Truth; they have refused to believe it and love it and let it save them,11 so God will allow them to believe lies with all their hearts, and all of them will be justly judged for believing falsehood, refusing the Truth, and enjoying their sins.

2. .Challenge of militant anti-Christians

Church needs equipped at the end of the age by Elijah manifestations

Rev 11:5And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. (KJV)

3. Ignorance of many Christian leaders about Gifts

1 Cor 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: (KJV)

4. Church fell away after 400 AD to politics & this was reason for no Gifts

Each generation needs to see God in action

Judges 2:7 and the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel. (KJV)

Judges 2:10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. (KJV)

5. Gifts will not be done away until the return of Christ

1 Cor 13:8- Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

9 For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect;

10 but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways.

12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.

2.IMPARTING OF GIFTS

The Knowledge of God is shown by the use of the Word of Wisdom, Word of Knowledge and Discerning of Spirits.

(a) WORD OF WISDOM

1 Cor 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; (KJV)

WORD OF WISDOM IS NOT

(1) Natural wisdom sanctified to service of God

(2) Not ability to rightly interpret or use Bible

(3) Not ability to counsel and guide people wisely

(4) Not good administrative ability

(5) Not same as prophecy in that it DIRECTS and PREDICTS, where Prophecy exhorts and comforts, or shows state of affairs

1 Cor 14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?24. But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth. (KJV)

(6) Not intended to ADD TO SCRIPTURES

(I) DEFINITION; Word of Wisdom is single Word from the Lord as to what to do to meet a given need.

(ii) EXAMPLES IN SCRIPTURE

(1) JESUS & PETER.

Jesus was not a fisherman, but told Peter how to catch fish.

Luke 5:3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. (KJV)

Luke 5:4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. (KJV)

Luke 5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. (KJV)

Luke 5:6 And when they had this done, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. (KJV)

Luke 5:7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. (KJV)

Luke 5:8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. (KJV)

NOTE RECOGNITION OF DIVINE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST

(2) PAUL AND SAILORS

Paul was not experienced as a sailor, but had Word from God and when that was rejected, further prayed the ship out of trouble.

Acts 27:10 And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives. (KJV)

Acts 27:11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul. (KJV)

Acts 27:12 And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west. (KJV)

Acts 27:13 And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete. (KJV)

Acts 27:14 But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon. (KJV)

Acts 27:15 And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive. (KJV)

Acts 27:20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away. (KJV)

Acts 27:21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss. (KJV)

Acts 27:22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship. (KJV)

Acts 27:23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I

am, and whom I serve, (KJV)

Acts 27:24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. (KJV)

Acts 27:25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me. (KJV)

Acts 27:26 Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island. (KJV)

Acts 27:27 But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country; (KJV)

Acts 27:28 And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms. (KJV)

Acts 27:29 Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day. (KJV)

Acts 27:30 And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship, (KJV)

Acts 27:31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved. (KJV)

Acts 27:32 Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off. (KJV)

Acts 27:33 And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing. (KJV)

Acts 27:34 Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head

Acts 27:35 And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat. (KJV)

Acts 27:36 Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat. (KJV)

Acts 27:37 And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls. (KJV)

Acts 27:41 And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves. (KJV)

Acts 27:44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land. (KJV)

THIS IS NOTHING TO DO WITH A PERSON'S NATURAL POWERS.

(iii) PRACTICAL USE OF THIS GIFT:

(1) There may be a time delay

1 Pet 1: 10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. (KJV)

(2) Do not be put off by adverse circumstances, but hold on in faith

And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand. 2 So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. 3 And He said to the man who had the withered hand, "Step forward." 4 Then He said to them, "Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they kept silent. 5 And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other. NKJV

(3) Do not try to force prophecies to come to pass. cf Ishmael

(4) God's purpose can be altered by repentance or rebellion

(5) Abide in Christ to obtain genuine revelation.

(B) WORD OF KNOWLEDGE.

(i) DEFINITION OF WORD OF KNOWLEDGE.

WORD OF KNOWLEDGE IS NOT:

(1) Natural ability to know

(2) Not a good knowledge of the Scriptures

(3) Not given to pry into people's lives, but often to pray in secret

(i) DEFINITION

A single Word from the Lord describing a state of affairs.

(ii) EXAMPLES FROM SCRIPTURE

(1) CHRIST DEALING WITH THE SAMARITAN WOMAN.

John 4:16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. (KJV)

John 4:17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: (KJV)

John 4:18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. (KJV)

John 4:19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. (KJV)

JESUS AT LAST SUPPER

John 13:18-22(Matt 26:21-25; Mark 14:18,19; Luke 22:21-23)

"I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.' 19 Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He. 20 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me."

21 When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me." 22 Then the disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom He spoke. NKJV

(2) PAUL SAW A MAN HAD FAITH TO BE HEALED.

Acts 14:8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had

walked: (KJV)

Acts 14:9 The same heard Paul speak: who steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, (KJV)

Acts 14:10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. (KJV)

Acts 14:11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men. (KJV)

(3) EXAMPLES from life.

Gift of knowing the origin of a supernatural happening and discerning what spirits are present.

(ii) EXAMPLES:

(1) JESUS DISCERNED SPIRIT BEHIND SICKNESS

LUKE 13 shows Demon powers behind sickness some times.

Luke 13:10 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, (NIV)

Luke 13:11 and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. (NIV)

Luke 13:12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." (NIV)

Luke 13:13 Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. (NIV)

(1) NOTE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CASTING OUT SPIRITS AND HEALING THE SICK; NOT EVERY SICKNESS IS A DEMON.

Matt 8:16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were

brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. (NIV)

2) THIS POWER IS GIVEN TO YOU TODAY TO CONTINUE THIS MINISTRY:

Matt 10:1 He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. (NIV)

(3) KEEPING FREE IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS CASTING OUT DEMONS. Matthew 12.

Matt 12:43 "When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. (NIV)

DELIVERED PERSON NEEDS TO BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST AND KEEP IN GODLY COMPANY .

Matt 12:45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation." (NIV)

(4) LET DEMONS SHOW THEMSELVES: DO NOT HUNT FOR THEM!

DO NOT LOOK FOR DEMONS - THEY WILL MANIFEST WHEN GOD COMES NEAR.

Mark 1:23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out, (NIV)

(5) NEED TO KNOW YOUR AUTHORITY IN GOD AND NOT PLAY AROUND.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THIS AUTHORITY:

Acts 19:14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. (NIV)

Acts 19:15 the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" (NIV)

Acts 19:16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. (NIV)

(6) DEMONS WILL RECOGNIZE MAN OF GOD

Mark 5:2 When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an evil spirit came from the tombs to meet him. (NIV)

DO NOT HAVE LONG CONVERSATION WITH DEMONS, BUT ALLOW THEM TO MANIFEST THEIR GOING OUT

Mark 5:13 He gave them permission, and the evil spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned. (NIV)

(6) DELIVERANCE IS TEAM WORK AS DEMONS NEVER GET TIRED:

Mark 6: 7 Calling the Twelve to him, he sent them out two by two and gave them authority over evil spirits. (NIV)

DEMONS CAN BE DELIVERED AT DISTANCE BY POINT OF CONTACT

Mark 7:25 In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an evil spirit came and fell at his feet. (NIV)

(7) SOME LARGER DEMONS NEED PRAYER AND FASTING. NEED TO GET PERSON TO RENOUNCE DEMON IF POSSIBLE .

Mark 9:25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the evil spirit. "You deaf and mute spirit," he said, "I command you, come out of him and never enter him again." (NIV)

Mark 9:26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, "He's dead." (NIV)

(8) PRIVATE CASTING OUT WHERE POSSIBLE AS DEMONS LIKE ATTENTION.

DO NOT BE FRIGHTENED BY APPEARANCES. GET PERSON OUT OF CROWD AND ROOM TO PRIVATE DELIVERANCE WHERE POSSIBLE.DEMONS TRY TO ATTRACT ATTENTION TO SELF AND DISRUPT MEETING

YOU CAN BIND THEM AND CAST THEM OUT AT YOUR CONVENIENCE

Luke 4:33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an evil spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, (NIV)

Acts 16:17 This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved." (NIV)

Acts 16:18 She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" At that moment the spirit left her. (NIV)
